Growing up, I dealt with severe acne. It was physically painful, but it also affected my mental health. I was not too fond of how my skin looked, and I was always conscious of it. No matter how often I told myself that it did not bother me or would get better with time, I knew that was a lie. I kept telling myself to hold on.
I was constantly told that my acne would disappear once my teenage is over, and no, it did not. I still struggle with it, but it is not as bad as before. Here's what I did to tackle my acne.
3 Things That Helped Me With My Acne
IDENTIFYING MY SKIN TYPE- The first and foremost step is determining your skin type. It can be pretty damaging to your skin if you use products not meant for your skin type. Here's a simple hack on how you can find out what your skin type is- https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ca2MpcJpLXE/ (copy and paste this link in your browser)
CHOOSING THE RIGHT PRODUCTS- Choose the right product according to your skin type and concern. It is imperative, especially If you have any specific skin concerns like acne, pigmentation, dullness etc.
Here are some of my recommendations:
BEING CONSISTENT- Create and follow a daily skincare routine. You will not see results from Day 1, and it will take time, and the only way it can be fruitful is to stay consistent with your routine. Create a skincare routine that is easy to follow.
BONUS TIP- Get your hormone levels checked to ensure that you are healthy internally. Because if you are not, no matter how many topical products you apply to your skin, there's only so much it can do.
