Skincare in your 20s, 30s and 40s

A proper skincare routine targets skin issues that are specific to you. Your skin's needs at 22 are considerably different from those at 45, therefore your skincare routine should be adjusted accordingly. Certain in-office procedures meant to improve the skin's collagen and fibroblast production can also assist our skin as we age. We'll go over these in detail on our blog today!

You're in your twenties.

1. Use a sunscreen

If you're going to be exposed to the sun during the day, whether you're a teenager, in your twenties, or 60 years old, you should always use sunscreen.

2. Taking off your makeup before going to bed

When you wake up in the morning with makeup on, your pores will be blocked, your skin will be inflamed, and your skin will be dull. Remove any traces of makeup using an oil cleanser to allow your skin to breathe and repair itself as you sleep.

3. Exfoliate the skin

Wherever possible, use chemical exfoliants. They're kinder, but they're more effective. They'll make sure you're addressing post-acne scarring, dryness, moisture retention, and, of course, anti-aging! In addition to exfoliating the skin, AHAs such as glycolic and lactic acid act as humectants, pulling moisture into the skin and avoiding dryness.

4. Retinoids for prevention

By increasing cellular turnover and encouraging collagen production, retinoids help to prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In your late twenties, when our body's rate of collagen creation begins to slow down, it's a good idea to integrate retinol into your beauty routine.

5. Use a silk pillowcase to sleep.

Cotton pillowcases absorb more moisture from the skin and cause friction, therefore switching to silk pillowcases will help your skin and hair.

6. A well-balanced meal plan

It's true what they say: we are what we consume. Eating a well-balanced diet provides your skin with the nutrients it requires, as well as allowing you to feel fuller for longer, preventing hunger pangs that cause you to binge on carbohydrate-rich meals.

1. Use a sunscreen

No matter how old you are, you must use sunscreen!

2.Antioxidants

Antioxidants protect the skin from oxidative damage, which leads to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Antioxidant products, such as a vitamin C serum, can be used under your sunscreen to provide additional protection against free radicals.

3. Retinoids

After the age of 30, retinoids are your skin's best friend. If you're a retinoid veteran, apply them at least three to four times each week to avoid wrinkles and keep your skin bright and supple.

4. Cream for the eyes

Our under-eye skin is the thinnest and most susceptible to wrinkles. A thick, creamy eye cream will prevent early wrinkles by ensuring there is minimal to no dryness around your eyes.

5. Apply moisturiser

Because our bodies' ability to retain moisture declines as we age, it's critical to apply a high-quality moisturiser on a daily basis. As a result, it becomes an important part of your skincare routine.

6. Treatments performed in the office:

In your thirties, indulge in in-office procedures that will improve the elasticity and tightness of your skin. These procedures are non-surgical and minimally invasive, with little to no recovery time!

7. Botox

When Botox is used early on in the development of wrinkles, it helps to prevent them from becoming deeper and more intense. Consider it more of a preventative measure than a treatment!

You're in your forties.

1. Apply sunscreen!

There are no surprises here!

2. Soak up the moisture

Moisturizing skin as it ages is more important than ever! To lock in moisture and prevent dryness, use a nourishing moisturiser towards the end of your skincare routine. When you use a face oil with your moisturiser, it becomes more occlusive, limiting trans-epidermal water loss.

3. Exfoliate the skin

To prevent dry and dead skin from forming on the surface, you should use a chemical exfoliator at least once a week. With time, the skin's ability to turnover becomes less efficient.

4. Fillers and Botox

You don't need to prohibit anything anymore; instead, you require them. With just a few Botox injections, you can get a tiny neck lift!

5. Retinoids

Don't forget to keep using them!

A skincare routine that caters to your skin's individual demands is something that will not only help you look better, but is also an act of self-care that you perform for your physical and emotional well-being, no matter what stage of life you're in. A skincare regimen is the time of day when we give ourselves the care and attention that we deserve. It's certainly an investment that will pay off handsomely as you get older!
